Booksneeze Review

I got a book called Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas from Booksneeze.com in spring 2010.

I was somewhat surprised that it is a *big* book!
I was at a deaf christian apologetics course and the tutor was talking about fundamentalism and other stuff.  He explained briefly about this person called Dietrich Bonhoeffer who was famous for plotting to kill Hitler during 2nd World War.  The tutor was talking about "empty grace" as opposed to full grace.  He showed some photographs of well-known people - in 2 parts that agree with full grace or empty grace.  Bonhoeffer agree with full grace.
The book did mention the word "empty grace" as a person made a forward comment about Bonhoeffer's own findings when he set up a church in Germany which became a small minority in the whole of Germany because it did not follow the religious rules of the other churches during the time when Hitler was in power.
It took me a long while to read this book but I got as far as where Bonhoeffer was just before the 2nd World War started before he decided to stay in Germany instead of living in USA or England to further his bible studies.
What I learned in the apologetics course that Bonhoeffer was sent to prison because he was caught trying to kill Hitler but he was hanged before the end of the war.
A worthwhile reading if you like to read it!
